Clive Staples Lewis
Oh, where to start with this man.
If Tolkien gave me a love for Fantasy, Lewis showed me why it mattered.
I first wandered into Narnia when I was nine years old. Since then, though I’ve grown up, I never truly came back.
Lewis’ uncanny ability to show the deepest truths in such a tangible way is something that I strive to mimic. He showed me that there is POWER in what you write, that your voice matters, and that you CAN write a meaningful story.
He made me fall in love with books. With fantasy. With a world that could doesn’t exist outside of our own.
Once somebody asked me, “what was the book that you read that made you go: yeah. I want to be a writer.”
I didn’t know what to say at the time, but I do now.
It was The Chronicles of Narnia.
It’s always been The Chronicles of Narnia.
Because more than anything else, Aslan taught me to recognize Christ not only on the page, but in my own life. I don't know if I would have fallen so deeply in love with my faith if I had never stepped through the wardrobe.
I am forever grateful to you, Professor Lewis, for everything. Thank you.
